Desktop Presets. Designed to use with RAW camera files on Lightroom.
After shooting digital and film for a long time, these presets are a marriage between the two. Not a film emulation, but presets that take the best of each and combine into their own special medium.
6 individual presets, all with different scenarios and vibes in mind. For the desktop versions, some presets include extra masks like skin masks for skin tones, and sky masks for highlight retention.
The presets:
Porta Inspired:
This is my absolute favourite and go to. This preset was crafted by putting two identical photos next to each other, one film, one digital, and getting it as close as I can while still keeping the best aspects of a digital image intact.
Vintage Summer:
Deep blues, faded blacks, warm skin tones, all the makings of an iconic summer shot. Pairs perfectly with a vintage concept/look.
First light:
Living on the east coast of Australia, the sun rises from the sea. This preset I love to use in first light scenarios, with a sky mask included to bring down highlights on the desktop version.
Midday:
Unfortunately we can't always shoot at the best light, but even at midday, we can make the most of it (low to the ground poses help a ton!). This preset is designed to help with the contrasty nature of top down sun.
Seeing Red:
Perfect for any image with a strong red, whether that's the clothing, a prop or the background.
Wild West:
Muted, moody.... out there, like the Wild West.
Please note:
These presets were designed with under exposure in mind, so if they seem super bright when you apply, just bring that exposure back down. Or if they seem dark, put the exposure back up. Always play with the white balance and tint too. They might seem too warm or cold at first, too dark or too bright, but the preset is a foundation for your look once exposure and white balance is corrected. There’s a good chance your photo won’t look exactly how you want it with one click, but if you change exposure, white balance and tint you’ll get the look we both desire!
